Our Story
Who We Are
Born from pain. Built on purpose. Still standing because the work’s not done.
In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, we were shattered—but not silent. We looked for spaces to grieve, to organize, to heal. Spaces where Black pain wasn’t minimized, where our stories didn’t need translation, where our presence didn’t need permission.
But when we couldn’t find what we needed—we built it.
That’s how The Black Resiliency Project was born. Out of collective grief. Out of sacred rage. Out of a deep need for connection, care, and community that centered us.
We started as a lifeline. Now we’re a movement.
What began as a call for justice has grown into a community-driven effort to protect and uplift Black lives in real, practical ways. We don’t wait for the system to catch up—we show up. In barbershops and backyards. In churches and classrooms. With food, with facts, with healing, and with hope.

We're the ones training trusted messengers, creating healing hubs, spotlighting recovery stories, and raising up youth who know their power.
Why We’re Still Going
Because overdose rates are still rising—and so is misinformation.
Because Black folks are still being underdiagnosed, over-policed, and overlooked.
Because the trauma didn’t end with a hashtag.

We’re still going because we believe in Black wellness without barriers. We believe in meeting people where they are—with no judgment, just love. We believe healing happens when community leads.
This isn’t charity. It’s commitment.
Every pop-up we host, every young person we train, every story we amplify—it’s our way of saying: We’re still here. We still care. And we’re not going anywhere.

The Black Resiliency Project was created because we had to be.
We continue because we choose to be.
And we won’t stop until every Black life not only matters—but thrives.
